2016 Sierra Madre Pinot Noir

This is the first year we've worked with Sierra Madre Vineyard, and our first 2016 Pinot Noir release. Unlike many 2015 wines, which are demanding bottle age and took in the draught characteristics of dusty earth and subtle fruit, this vintage is one of intense, bright flavors and showcases the mulch and spice  that we love about Santa Maria AVA. 2016 will prove to be a remarkable showing for Santa Barbara County wines!

2017 MARTIAN GAMAY Noir

The biodynamically farmed Martian Vineyard in Los Alamos is the ideal site for Gamay, with warmer temperatures than Pinot Noir territory but consistently cool evenings to maintain the bright, tense acid structure we love in a California Gamay. No, Gamay does not get the same romantic recognition that's showered over Pinot Noir, but its similarities and outright delicious high-tone flavors deserve their spot on any wine lover's table.

2015 Gold Coast Pinot Noir

This 2015 Pinot Noir from Gold Coast Vineyard was a delight to make because mother nature was on our side. The growing season was ideal. In spring we had a good fruit set, with no wind or frost. Summer was steady with sunny days and the needed cool down during the nights (but not too cold). Luckily, to help perfectly ripen the grapes, August came along with a slight jump up in heat. Perfect timing as the grapes got enough warmth and hang time to achieve phenolic ripeness.

The 30 year-old vines help lend toward the complexity of this wine. The dark fruit characteristics are focused but dance with minerality and the Dijon clone undoubtedly expresses itself with spice .

2016 DUVARITA PINOT NOIR

Duvarita vineyard has routinely been a favorite of ours, no matter who is working with these distinctively old-world-tasting grapes. The windy, exceptional cool days off the Lompoc coast are offset by the ripening of the sun bouncing off the desert-like sand that bedrocks the vineyard. Flavors are bright and light and capture the selenity of the 2015 growing season.

2017 SLIDE HILL vineyard GRENACHE

Slide Hill is positioned in one of the cooler pockets of Edna Valley in San Luis Obispo, once owned by Qupe and called Sawyer Lindquist. This year's Grenache is powerfully fruit expressive, but has found its flavors through restrained, lower alcohol and is nicely tannic and peppery. The sometimes candied nature of Grenache has been subdued even more with our 50 percent whole cluster fermentation.

2015 Larner Vineyard Syrah

I was always amazed by the focus that Larner Syrah exhibited. Luckily for me, this vineyard has a strength that captures a sense "of place" so distinctly. Without over-extraction, picking at a lower brix and not covering the fruit with new oak, it was my goal to make a drinkable Syrah.

The wine seems to find a way to remain savory with a "meaty-ness" but also shows what a Syrah should: a brightness of blueberry, boysenberry and currant. Small hints of iron and pepper can be found as fruit and earth find a way to become one.

2017 mirabella VINEYARD sauvignon blanc

We truly believe some of the finest best Sauvignon Blanc in the world can be achieved right outside our front door. Obviously, it all begins with the land and is shaped by our ability to understand that land and its beauty. The remarkably unique soil structures and climate variations in the far east side of Santa Ynez valley are one of the reasons our Sauvignon Blanc offers such strong, terroir-shaped characteristics.

We are especially proud of the dense aromatics of this fresh, high-toned Sauvignon Blanc. There is something cool and tropical about quality Sauvignon Blanc sourced from the Los Olivos AVA, and we chose to focus on the core of those flavors by aging in oak barrels and letting the bright acid naturally work its magic.

2016 JSV Vineyard pinot noir

Sitting on the far-eastern side of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, John Sabastiano Vineyard exhibits much warmer daytime temperatures than the more coastal west side, resulting in riper, deeper red fruits and a peppery spice. This is our fullest-body Pinot, yet still light and bright on the spectrum of California Pinots.

2016 Duvarita Vineyard syrah

This is the first year we have worked with Duvarita for Syrah, with only a couple planted acres available on this absolutely cool-climate, sandy vineyard. Long cluster hang-time and unusually stressed conditions resulted in a unique Syrah full of dark flavors and that “Duvarita Spice.”
